Manufacture visit : Zeitwinkel

Albert from Zeitwinkel

Albert Edelmann was my man at the site

It was already spring -23 when I made a visit to meet the Team at Zeitwinkel, located Saint-Imier, nestled in the Bernese Jura. Albert has been asking to pop a visit and see the magic in person.

Zeitwinkel is an independent watchmaker renowned for crafting high-quality timepieces featuring in-house manufactory movements. Established in 2006 by a group of passionate watch enthusiasts, the brand has remained true to its roots, maintaining its independence and continuing to be managed by its original founders.

We have always enjoyed their friendly presence at the spring Show and the products do speak for themselves. But how does it look behind the curtains…I was really impressed on the level they work on these watches. Each Zeitwinkel watch and movement is meticulously hand-assembled by the brand's skilled watchmakers in its manufactory, yes, even in the movement parts one cannot see!

At Zeitwinkel, they blend tradition with modernity by working on nearly antique equipment and even handcrafting some components. For parts they do not produce in-house, it is smart to source them from trusted suppliers within the region, ensuring a commitment to quality and supporting local craftsmanship.

I had the chance to see the old machines alongside the modern CNC equipment, and wow, those vintage machines are something else! Not only do they have an incredible charm, but as many knows, they truly deliver exceptional results.

At Zeitwinkel, the same watchmaker who assembles the movement typically completes the watch by fitting the dial, hands, and case. This approach means there is no production assembly line—only skilled watchmakers meticulously crafting each timepiece from start to finish.

Considering the pricing and the exceptional quality of their movements, especially crafted with German silver, Zeitwinkel truly delivers value for its fans. Beyond the craftsmanship, the opportunity to connect with the makers adds a personal touch to the experience. Having met them, I can say they’re some of the nicest and most passionate individuals in the industry.

From elegant 2-3 hand watches to the new Sports version and more intricate pieces, I highly encourage you to explore Zeitwinkel’s collection. Take the opportunity to meet the people behind the brand and experience their exceptional timepieces firsthand at our Show. And don’t forget to enjoy a few behind-the-scenes photos for a glimpse into their craftsmanship!

Thank you for having me over and cheers for the Crème Brûlée with Absinthe!

This twist on the classic French dessert infuses the creamy richness of crème brûlée with the aromatic and herbaceous notes of absinthe, creating a truly unique and indulgent experience. First time for me, and we sure had good laughs at dinner!
